GREAT DVNE • INNANETAPE

I have gotta say that the mixtape that really inspired me to want to make music was INNANETAPE by Vic Mensa. It’s extremely hard to narrow down, given all the artists and albums that I feel have inspired me over time, but INNANETAPE has and always will hold a special place in my heart because of how authentic, real, and beautiful the music was. And how it birthed the want to make music myself. The mixtape made making music seem fun.

The lyrics. The production. The flows. Everything from top to bottom was fresh and authentic. I remember the first time I heard this (circa summer 2014 when I first discovered Vic Mensa/Savemoney and before I ever even started making music) I remember thinking “if I make music I want it to be like this.” I wanted to make music that resonated with people the way INNANETAPE resonated with me. I wanted to get groups of people together with different talents and work together to make beautiful music. And shorty after I started making music with My guys at BeamHouse and the rest is history.

From the relaxing subtleness of “Orange Soda” to the brash all over the place flow and lyrics of “Tweakin’” to the emotion provoking “Holy Holy,” I wanted to make versatile music that would make people feel the way I felt when I first listened to INNANETAPE.

I am still trying to create an outro a great as “That Nigga,” but I’m getting there; I’m closer than ever.
