ANDROID NO. 23 • GOOD KID, M.A.A.D. CITY
There’s a few different albums that got me into music but I think for this one I’m going to pay homage to Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city. I’m choosing this album because even though I was making music before that album dropped, GKMC shaped me into the artist I am today. After hearing that album, my music became cantered around telling people my story as opposed to telling people what I think they wanted to hear. The album inspired me and took me to a place I never knew music could take me. I think anyone who’s heard that album can agree that when you heard it you felt like you were in that minivan with Kendrick and his friends. Ever since hearing that record I’ve been aiming to make my music feel immersive in that same manner, and aiming to let my music paint a picture of who I am. I never knew it was possible like that before GKMC so that was a game changer for me.
